Searching for Books by Author
Many modern phtographers will publish their own photo books. Searching for these can be a great source to view the photographer's images.
When searching for books in the library, choose Library Catalog.
In the search filters, choose the drop down and select Author/Creator.
Enter the Author or Photographers name in Last Name, First Name order.
Further narrow down the collection by choosing Books under the Material Type drop down.
After clicking SEARCH, you will have a list of books to choose from the library's catalogue.
Each book located in the campus libraries will have a Call Number associated with it. For more information on photography call numbers, look below.
Searching for Books by Subject
Another option to find books is to search by Subject. The key to searching by subject is knowing how to narrow down or expand your topic. Here are a few tips to help with this:
Choose the Library Catalog and Subject in the Field drop down.
Narrow down the Material Type you need, for example, Books.
Adding an asterisk to the end of a word root will return any results that have that root word. For example, photo* will return photo, photos, photographs, photography, photojournalism, etc.
Adding quotes around a word will return any results with that exact word.
There is also an option to choose AND, OR, or NOT from the drop down.
AND will allow you to search for results with both words. For Example Photo* AND "Nature".
OR will allow you to search for results with either word. For Example Photo* OR CINEMA*.
NOT will allow you to search for results with one word but exclude other words. For example: Photo* NOT "Fashion".
