LibGuide Accessibility

This guide offers direction on creating accessible LibGuides at EFSC.

General Formatting

File names

  • Should give content information and be concise.

  • Use friendly URLS to convey that information.

Page Layout

  • Should limit blank space and empty table fields.

  • Tables should only be used for tabular data, not page layout.

Headers and Footers

  • Avoid adding content to these sections because they are not read by screen readers.

Content Organization using Headings

  • Screen readers use changes in heading sizes to denote paragraphs and content organization.

  • Headings are hierarchical and need to be used in order.  Do not skip levels.
