Downloading EBSCO eBooks to your home computer

Many EFSC Library EBSCO eBooks can be downloaded to your home computer and transferred to a mobile device.

Note: it is not necessary to download eBooks to view and use them for research.  Downloading simply gives you the added ability to read and work with eBooks offline on a home computer or eBook reader.

  1. Set up a My EBSCOhost account if you do not already have one.
  2. Download Adobe Digital Editions to your home computer, if you do not already have it installed.
  3. Find a book in the EBSCO eBook Collection that is downloadable and click the Download This eBook (Offline) link.
  4. Select a Checkout period from the drop-down menu and click the Checkout & Download button. If you are not logged into your My EBSCOhost folder, you will be prompted to do so. The eBook is added to the Checkout area of the folder, accessible from the upper-right corner of the EBSCOhost interface.
  5. Select Open with or Save File from the resulting dialog box. If you select Open with, your eBook is opened and displayed with Adobe® Digital Editions. If you select Save file, the eBook is saved to your computer and can be opened with Adobe® Digital Editions at a later time.
