How to Cite What You Get from GAI and ChatGPT

The citation editors of the American Psychological Association (APA) have created a blog post containing guidelines on how to cite the text given to ChatGPT users after they have asked the Large Language Model (LLM) for help answering various questions.  The post is written by Timothy McAdoo, a manager on the APA Style team with a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in writing.

 

The Modern Language Association (MLA) also has created guidelines for citing Generative AI.  This blog post discusses the particulars of that activity.
